2021-2022 Expansion Project for Maison Gilles-Carles de Brome-Missisquoi

Enhancement of Services Offered by BMCSG

On November 11th, 2021, The Brome-Missisquoi Caregiver Support Group (BMGSG) was very pleased to launch a major project, the expansion of Maison Gilles-Carle de Brome-Missisquoi, which will lead to an enhancement of services for caregivers and their loved ones in the region.

The growing demand for our day and overnight respite services, psychosocial support services and the lack of space to adequately respond to the needs of our community's caregivers have prompted us to undertake this expansion. The new layout of Maison Gilles-Carle de Brome-Missisquoi will include the following improvements:

  • Addition of two rooms for respite care in order to accommodate six individuals for the night instead of four;
  • Expansion of common areas, including the dining room, to be able to seat more people and for an improved offering of activities for assisted individuals;
  • Reorganization of a closed room for more privacy during meetings/discussions;
  • New outdoor terrace at the back of the house;
  • Increased security of the premises through, among other things, the installation of a generator.

These major renovations, which should be completed by May 2022, are essential to the continuity of our mission for the Caregiver Support Group and will undoubtedly contribute to improving the quality of life of our service users.

The organization wishes to assure the population that even if a little noise and a lot of dust are to be expected during this period, no interruption of services is planned during the work.

Unveiling of the Results of the Expansion Project

On January 31st, 2023, The Brome-Missisquoi Caregiver Support Group (BMGSG) was very pleased to unveil the results of the Maison Gilles-Carle de BromeMissisquoi expansion project.

The work took place during 2022. The BMCSG is very pleased with the results of the work. The renovations took a little longer than expected for various reasons such as the rising cost of materials, delivery delays and the scarcity of labour, but we did it! Our team is convinced that these changes will greatly contribute to the quality of the services offered by the Brome-Missisquoi Caregiver Support Group.

The organization can now welcome a total of 12 assisted persons per day, including six individualsfor day respite and six for overnight respite. Prior to the expansion, the BMCSG was able to welcome 8 assisted persons per day.

Here's some pictures of the new spaces.

Organize an Activity

The BMCSG is very grateful to members of the community who choose to organize an event benefitting the Maison Gilles-Carle de Brome-Missisquoi. Thanks to their generosity, we are able to pursue our mission of offering support services to caregivers. Organizing an activity is also an excellent way to raise awareness about the services we offer.

Here are some examples of fundraising activities:

  • Sporting events;
  • Garage sale;
  • Benefit dinner;
  • Concert;
  • Etc.

Don't hesitate to propose your idea! Please contact us by phone at 450 263-4236 or by email at direction@rsabm.ca. All activities must be approved by the Regroupement Soutienaux Aidants de Brome-Missisquoi before starting the organization and fundraising.

Brome-Missisquoi Caregiver Support Group

During the 1990s, the CLSC La Pommeraie consulted the population of its territory. A need was clearly defined: the lack of support for caregivers in Brome-Missisquoi. In response to this request, the Brome-Missisquoi Caregiver Support Group (BMCSG) was officially created in 1996 with the goal of offering respite and support services.

BMCSG has an important role and that is to give caregivers a chance to rest, to express their needs and feelings, to be listened to with empathy and compassion, and to be given support and tools that will help them to better assist their loved ones. We help and encourage extraordinary people who deserve and are entitled to resources to improve their quality of life.

Sixteen years after the creation of the BMCSG, the Maison Gilles-Carle Brome-Missisquoi opened its doors in 2012.

The peaceful atmosphere at the Maison Gilles-Carle Brome-Missisquoi allows loved ones to engage in activities while being cared for by our dedicated team of staff and volunteers. With peace of mind knowing that their loved ones are safe, caregivers can take quality time without worrying.
